The sheer size and weight of the vehicle means it requires far more distance to come to a full stop, and semi-truck drivers must be experienced, alert, and have driving such a large, heavy vehicle under control. An accident with a large commercial truck often leads to serious, catastrophic, or fatal injuries to other drivers and their passengers – much more rarely, the truck driver is injured.
